Last year I shared a list of Black-owned wing spots around Phoenix and honestly… a lot can change in a year. Some places closed, some shifted, and some just aren’t around anymore. That’s the reality of food businesses, especially when you’re doing it independently.
So this is an updated list. A fresh one. No recycled names, no “they used to be open” energy. Just spots that are currently serving wings and showing up in the Valley.
If you’ve been following BLKPHXAZ for a while, you already know I don’t do rankings. This isn’t about who’s number one. It’s about where the wings are good enough that people keep going back and telling their friends.
Here’s who’s on my radar right now:
Midwest Wings XXL
Locations📍
201 E Washington St Ste 109 Phoenix AZ 85004
This one feels familiar in the best way. Big wings, bold seasoning, and the kind of flavor that lets you know somebody actually cares about how the food comes out. Midwest folks will understand immediately.
Ace of Wings
Locations📍
8052 N 19th Ave phoenix (North)
3923 E Thomas Rd Phoenix (East)
Reliable. That’s really the word here. When you want wings and don’t feel like guessing, this is the kind of spot you remember. Simple, solid, and consistent.
Valley Wings AZ
Locations📍
15414 N 19th Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85023 | 1495 N Hayden Rd, Scottsdale, Arizona 85257
Very Phoenix. Very local. This is one of those spots that feels rooted in the community and supported by people who know good food when they taste it.
Smackin Wings
Location📍 1430 N 32nd st, Phoenix, Arizona 85008
The name says a lot and it’s not lying. The flavors hit, the sauces actually coat the wings, and you’re definitely not eating these politely.
ATL Wings
Several Locations📍
Atlanta-inspired wings in the desert always catch my attention. There’s a certain expectation that comes with that name, and this spot leans into it without trying too hard.
Sauced & Loaded
Location📍7241 S Baseline Rd, Phoenix, Arizona 85339
For the people who like options and don’t mind a little extra. These are the wings you order when you’re in the mood for something indulgent and worth the mess.
This list will probably change again at some point, and that’s okay. Supporting Black-owned spots is about showing love while they’re here, sharing them while they’re open, and keeping the conversation going.
If there’s a Black-owned wing spot in Phoenix or the surrounding areas that should be on my radar, send it my way. I’m always updating, always paying attention, and always hungry.
