Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about where we spend our money, especially after that viral TikTok from the woman talking about her experience working at EBIN. Their products stay in heavy rotation in the community, but hearing stories like that always makes me pause. It reminded me why I even started doing this in the first place. When situations like this pop up, it pushes me to look around and highlight the businesses that actually pour back into us.
So I went through my old list again, cleaned it up, removed the stores that weren’t actually Black owned, and added the new ones that have opened up. Arizona’s Black beauty scene is growing more than people realize, and if nobody else is going to shine a light on it, then I will.
Here’s the updated list, organized by city, so you can find the beauty supply closest to you and support the businesses that truly support our community.

Supporting these shops is bigger than just grabbing hair gel or a new bonnet. It’s about choosing to show up for the people who show up for us. Arizona doesn’t always make space for Black businesses, so when we find them, we protect them, we talk about them, and we make sure they’re still here five years from now. Every dollar you spend in these beauty supply stores helps keep our culture visible in a state where representation is still growing.
And as long as I’m running this blog, I’m going to keep updating this list, keep discovering the hidden gems, and keep reminding all of us that our community deserves to be seen, supported, and sustained, not just when controversy hits, but every day.
Whats the word?
