Phoenix Nights: Black-Owned Lounges I Can’t Wait to Visit

09/20/2025 | 3 Min. Read

Lately, I’ve been in the mood to switch it up when I go out. I don’t always want the big club scene, but I also don’t want to just sit at a restaurant all night either. Lounges feel like that sweet spot — music, food, drinks, and room to vibe however you want. Phoenix has some Black-owned spots that I can’t stop hearing about, and now they’re officially on my “must visit” list. Each one feels like it offers a different kind of night, depending on the vibe you’re going for, and I’m excited to finally make my rounds.

Sugarcane Lounge & Café

📍 2535 N Central Ave, Ste 103, Phoenix, AZ 85004

Sugarcane looks like one of those places where the energy feels just right. A little classy, a little creative, and always giving community. They’ve got live music and open mics, which tells me it’s more than just a lounge — it’s a space where people connect. Downtown location means it’s easy to slide through, and from what I’ve seen, the atmosphere makes you wanna stay for “just one more drink.”

Plush Kitchen & Lounge

📍 711 S Central Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85004

Plush is new on the scene, and I’m here for it. The inside looks modern and fresh, and those big patio doors? Definitely a vibe for late nights when the air finally cools down in Phoenix. I’ve heard it’s equal parts dinner spot and lounge, which makes it perfect for when you want to start your night with food and end it still at the same place.

Legacy Lounge

📍 3002 N Arizona Ave, Ste 18-19, Chandler, AZ 85225

Legacy gives more of that late-night, turn-up energy. DJs, a dance floor, and open until 2 AM — this isn’t your “quiet glass of wine and conversation” type of place. This is where you go when you want the music loud, the lights low, and the vibe turned all the way up. A little drive out in Chandler, but from what I hear, worth it when you’re in that party mood.

Lush Café & Lounge

📍 7470 S Priest Dr, Tempe, AZ 85283

Now this one feels like it’s giving both grown and sexy. The inside is beautiful, the cocktails look like they belong in a photo shoot, and the food is versatile enough for brunch, dinner, or a late-night bite. Lush has that “let’s celebrate something” kind of feel, but also seems like it would be fun for a regular night out when you just want to treat yourself.

Phoenix really has a lounge for whatever mood you’re in. Want something laid back with live music? Sugarcane. Want to try the new spot in town? Plush. Need a party night with DJs? Legacy. And if you’re feeling like dressing up a little? Lush is calling.

I love that these spaces are Black-owned and bringing even more flavor to the Valley’s nightlife. I’m making it my mission to check each of them off my list, and honestly, I can’t wait to see which one ends up becoming my go-to. If you’ve already been, let me know which lounge had the best vibe — I’m always down for a recommendation before I roll through.
