Let’s Talk: Black-Owned Hair & Skincare Brands You’ll Actually Love

11/21/2025 | 3 Min. Read

Every time I walk down a beauty aisle, I can’t help but think about how far we’ve come but also how much further we still need to go. It used to be a struggle to find products that actually understand our hair and our skin. Now, there’s this beautiful wave of Black-owned brands right here in the Valley (and a few who ship to us!) that make taking care of ourselves feel intentional again not a chore.

So I wanted to share a few gems that I’ve either tried, have sitting in my cart, or heard so much about that I might as well add them to my next restock list.

@shea.butter.bar

If you’re into handcrafted skincare with that rich, buttery texture (you know what I’m talking about), Shea Butter Bar is your spot. They’re all about natural ingredients and deep hydration like your skin just got hugged by moisture. Perfect for Phoenix weather that doesn’t always love us back.

@tradesofbrit

Trades of Brit feels like luxury with a purpose. The brand’s body care and candles give off “soft life energy,” and everything is crafted with intention. I love how their aesthetic makes you want to slow down, breathe, and treat self-care like a ritual instead of a to-do list.

@moinasiashop

When I say Moin Asia gives global Black girl luxury, I mean it. From skin oils to beautifully packaged body care, this brand radiates elegance and nourishment. It’s skincare that feels as good as it looks on your counter.

@prettayclean

This one is for my minimal girlies who love clean beauty that actually works. Prettay Clean keeps things simple, fresh, and honest. Their focus on non-toxic ingredients and gentle skincare makes it perfect for anyone who wants a routine that feels light but effective. Think: skin that breathes.

@primnproperco

Prim N Proper Co really nailed that clean girl meets everyday confidence vibe. Their products are simple, intentional, and make you feel put together without doing the most. I love seeing brands like this create space for soft, affordable luxury.

@branchebasuboutique

Branche Basu Boutique has the type of holistic products that make your skin thank you later. They mix wellness and beauty in such a grounding way, from scrubs to oils, it’s like a small moment of therapy for your body.

@honeychilehairlove

Now let’s get into the hair talk because Honey Chile Hair Love is the real deal. From scalp care to styling products, they’re all about keeping your curls soft, moisturized, and loved on. If your hair has been feeling a little dry or over it lately, start here.

Honestly, seeing so many Black-owned hair and skincare brands thrive right here in Arizona and beyond makes me proud. It’s about more than just products. It’s about the care, the culture, and the connection that comes with creating something for us, by us.

So if you’ve been looking to refresh your shelf or finally support more local Black-owned brands, start with these. Because when our skin glows and our curls pop? That’s community care in real time.
